Drug and Alcohol Addiction Partial Hospitalization Program in Santa Cruz
Our Partial Hospitalization Program at The Key Addiction Treatment Center provides the highest level of outpatient addiction treatment for people. Our Santa Cruz PHP delivers exceptional support for drug and alcohol addiction and co-occurring mental health concerns.
Our approach to treatment is guided by a simple belief: with the right support, lasting recovery is possible. As our founder, Dr. Bobby Singh, often says, “Change does not require perfection, just a willingness to begin. If you choose to take that step with us, you will be supported every step of the way.”
Dr. Bobby Singh is a double board-certified, Stanford-trained Addiction Medicine Physician in Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine. His approach to treatment was shaped by both clinical experience and witnessing the impact of addiction on people close to him. Through years of practice, he knows the difference high-quality outpatient care makes for long-term recovery and sobriety.
What Is a Partial Hospitalization Program?
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is the highest level of outpatient addiction treatment. Clients attend treatment several days per week for multiple hours each day, receiving intensive clinical support while continuing to live at home or in a supportive recovery environment.
PHP is often recommended for individuals who need more structure than traditional outpatient care or who are transitioning from detox or residential treatment.
Is PHP Right for Me?
PHP may be a good fit if recovery feels difficult to maintain on your own, cravings are becoming harder to manage, or you need more support than traditional outpatient treatment can provide. It offers a higher level of accountability and clinical care while allowing you to continue living outside of a residential setting.

What Our Participants & Colleague Are Saying About Us

Who Is a Partial Hospitalization Program Best For?
PHP may be the right fit if you need more structure and support, but do not require 24-hour care. It is often recommended after detox or inpatient treatment, or when early recovery feels unstable. If you need consistent daily support, clinical guidance, and help managing triggers in real time, PHP will provide the stability you need.

What Happens After PHP?
Recovery does not end when PHP is complete. As clients make progress, our team helps create a personalized continuing care plan designed to support long-term success. Depending on individual needs, the next step may include an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), outpatient treatment, recovery coaching, community support groups, or other recovery-focused resources. We also work with clients to strengthen relapse prevention strategies, build healthy routines, and develop a strong support network. The goal is to help each person transition confidently into the next phase of recovery while maintaining the momentum and skills gained during treatment.
PHP Continuum of Care
Recovery is a process, not a single phase of treatment. As clients complete PHP, our team helps create a personalized transition plan that may include IOP, outpatient care, recovery support services, community resources, and ongoing accountability. Our goal is to help clients maintain momentum and continue building a strong foundation for long-term recovery.
